Proposal Planning: Where and How to Actually Do It

The proposal itself needs three decisions: where, when, and what happens immediately afterwards.

Choose a place that means something

The most memorable proposals are tied to a shared place — where you met, a first trip, a favourite walk. Scenic locations photograph well but can be crowded, windy and stressful.

Time it for light and nerves

Golden hour photographs beautifully and feels calmer. Avoid a moment when either of you is rushed, tired, or about to be somewhere else.

Have the logistics sorted

• Ring security: keep it in a hard box in a zipped pocket, never loose in a bag
• Photographer: a friend with a phone is enough; brief them on the angle in advance
• Weather backup: decide now whether rain moves the plan indoors
• Afterwards: book somewhere to sit down and call family together
