Eternity Rings: Full, Half and Channel Set Explained

An eternity ring is a continuous line of stones, usually given for an anniversary or worn as a wedding band. There are three variations worth knowing.

Full eternity

Stones go all the way around. The most dramatic and the most expensive, but the underside stones sit against your finger and against whatever you touch — and a full eternity cannot be resized.

Half eternity

Stones cover the top half only, with a plain back. Visually identical from the front, far more comfortable, and resizable. This is the practical choice for daily wear.

Channel set

Stones sit between two metal rails. Very secure and smooth to the touch — the best option if you work with your hands or wear gloves.

What to look for

• Stones matched for colour and size across the line
• At least 2mm band width for durability
• Channel or bezel setting if you are hard on jewelry
• Half eternity if you may need resizing later
