Moissanite Cuts Explained: Round, Oval, Cushion, Emerald & More

Moissanite Cuts Explained: Round, Oval, Cushion, Emerald & More

Cut is the single biggest driver of how a stone looks — and the easiest place to overspend or underspend.

Round brilliant

The brightest cut and the most popular. 58 facets engineered to return the maximum light. A 6.5mm round is the classic 1ct-equivalent engagement size.

Oval

Visually stretches the finger and gives more face-up size per carat than a round. The most requested fancy shape for engagement rings.

Cushion

Rounded square with brilliant faceting — soft, vintage and forgiving of inclusions. Available as 'cushion brilliant' or 'crushed ice'.

Emerald

Step-cut, rectangular, architectural. Trades sparkle for depth and clarity — a hall-of-mirrors look rather than a fireworks display.

Pear and marquise

Both elongate the hand dramatically. Pear is asymmetric (one rounded end); marquise is pointed at both ends.

Radiant and princess

Radiant combines an emerald outline with brilliant faceting for maximum sparkle in a rectangular shape. Princess is a sharp square, modern and geometric.
